Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance (AD&D) is an insurance policy (or a rider) that provides financial indemnification for either the unintentional Death or the partial Dismemberment of the insured.

Dismemberment includes the loss, or the loss of use, of body parts or functions (e.g., limbs, speech, eyesight, or hearing).

Because of coverage limitations, AD&D insurance coverage should be carefully reviewed by an insured (and in the case of an Employer provided group contract) by a representative of the insured. It is important to ensure a complete understanding of the AD&D coverage terms and the Conditions of Exclusion.
